Web Philosophies
I take great effort to make sure my website stands out without compromising my web philosophies. I'm a purist when it comes to how web pages should be coded. I only code pages with a simple text editor for these reasons:
- I want to learn and incorporate new web standards.
- Graphical editors throw in junk code that increases download and rendering times and prevents proper displaying in certain browsers.
- Graphical editors do not support emerging and sometimes existing standards, especially when it deals with accessibility.
- Graphical editors make it difficult to troubleshoot problems with code.
- I want to prove that a graphical editor just isn't needed.
My philosophies do not work well in a business environment, where how it looks is more important than how it works.
These pages are hand-coded and XHTML 1.1 validated, using cascading stylesheets, no tables, and no frames. These pages should render properly with any browser supporting web standards. Even if you use a text-only browser, you'll be able to navigate and view my site without problems.
If you can suggest improvements or point out problems, especially for those with disabilities, I can be reached through email as webmaster at fantasien dot net.
