Fan Translation of Legends of Fantasia?

Postby AranMax on Fri Mar 27, 2009 7:58 pm

What does everyone think about us fan's trying to make our own english translation of the books? I have no idea how difficult a task this would be, but its worth a try.

Has anybody ever asked the publisher how much they're asking for translation rights?

Now that they seem to be officially out of print, do we want to revisit this question?

They have been printed in USA or UK? Or do I misunderstand the phrase "out of print"?

Oh, no, sorry Mvek, "out of print" means a book is no longer in publication. I meant the series is no longer in publication in Germany. It never was picked up by a UK or US publisher.

Well, I thought it, but it seemed to me strange, you would have meant this:-). I think, it doesn't change anything on the idea, if someone would be able to get copy and scan it. And even the official way might be easier... But I am just speculating, I know almost nothing about licensing etc. Even though I know Czech editor of Star Trek novels, who was setting up for obtaining rights for the US novels to translate it. But he doesn't like talking about these things.
